Layer composite

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term “ layer composite ” describes the connection between two individual asphalt layers . It prevents the asphalt layers from shifting, caused for example by traffic. This significantly increases the service life and resistance of asphalt pavements.

Layer composite consists of interlocking and gluing. An effective interlocking is achieved, for example, if the lower layer (so-called base) is sufficiently rough. The layers are glued together with the help of a binding agent ( bitumen emulsion or pressure-sensitive adhesive ). A clean and stable base is a prerequisite for adequate interlocking and bonding.
