Rail-rails, sleeper-sleepers
Rails-rails, sleepers-sleepers ( Russian Рельсы-рельсы, шпалы-шпалы ) is a Russian children's poem that is performed on a child's back and thus represents a massage. The back of the child thus serves as a stage for the performance of the poem. It is very well known in Russia and is used by adults who massage back when using back massages for babies and toddlers. The children's poem exists in numerous variations and is used by adults as entertainment for babies and toddlers and is in this respect comparable to the German " Hoppe hoppe Reiter " games.
At the same time as the adult (usually the mother or grandma) recites the text, the adult performs certain illustrative, massaging hand movements on the back of the baby / toddler. In this respect it is similar to the German finger game "This is the thumb that shakes the plums ...".
In Russia, baby massages are generally considered to be stimulating and health-promoting (see baby swimming ), even if there are no medical recommendations for it. Massaging the back to this poem is considered more of a game.
Strictly speaking, it cannot be counted among the nursery rhymes , since it is not the child who recites the text, but - mostly - the mother who gives the massage.
