Ship rescue missile

A ship rescue rocket is a solid rocket which can be used to fire lines to rescue shipwrecked people.

These can be shot by hand or, more rarely, using launching devices. Ship rescue missiles are not part of the distress signal means .

It is also used in pipeline construction for pulling ropes over valleys.
