Under pipeline refers to the construction of lines of all kinds of water , waste water -, gas , electricity , telecommunications lines and antennas .

Here, pipelines are usually laid underground in an open or trenchless, closed construction and only in exceptional cases , for example as a temporary measure or for district heating purposes, above ground. Power lines are mostly laid underground in built-up areas, outside of them mostly above ground.

The main tasks of line construction include the search for the most economical design variant and the choice of a suitable route , which is particularly problematic in densely populated areas.
