Shingle knives are tools for splitting wood processing and are used for production of wood shingles . Wood shingles were usually made on farms. In certain regions, professionalization and demand led to the profession of clapboard .

Basics

Shingle knives come in different sizes. These range from approx. 10 cm to approx. 30 cm blade length. The length of the handle also varies from 10 cm to approx. 60 cm. On the one hand, the length of the handle varies from region to region, but it also differs depending on whether the shingle maker is standing or sitting.

In addition to the L-shaped shingle knife, there is also the shingle splitting knife and the shingle cleaning knife, both of which are also machine-made.
