Schizophony
Schizophony (Greek: schizo = divided, phone = voice, loud) is a word formed by R. Murray Schafer in the 1960s for a sound that has been separated from its original context by electroacoustic reproduction. Before the technical possibilities for storing and reproducing sounds existed, each sound was unique and could only be heard within its original context (English: schizophonia; source-sound split).
