Schlueter (office)

Schlüter (Middle Low German: sluiter , Latin: claviger ) is a regional name for the civil servant who was charged with the collection of sovereign domain income within the late medieval and early modern local administration of a territory. The name Schlueter was common in the Duchy of Kleve , for example . The Schlüter corresponds to the rent master or cellar (or waiter) in other territories.
