The Battle of St. Lawrence was a series of fighting between the German Navy and Canadian forces between May 1942 and November 1944.

The clashes included various naval and anti-submarine operations throughout the Saint Lawrence River and Gulf of Saint Lawrence , Belle Isle Strait , Anticosti and Cabot Strait on the Canadian Atlantic coast. During this time, German submarines sank several Allied merchant ships and four Canadian warships. There were several amphibious and land-based operations (dismantling of German spies, liberation of important German prisoners of war ( including Operation Kiebitz ). Despite the 23 lost ships, this battle was a strategic victory for the Canadian armed forces as they ultimately disrupted submarine activities, protected Canadian and Allied convoys, and intercepted any attempted land missions.
