Firing pin connection

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Firing pin connections are used for tower elements of construction cranes. The firing pin is placed in the intended bore and secured with split pins or spring clips. In contrast to the widespread screw solution, no additional tools such as a torque wrench or clamping tool are required for bolt connections.

Bolt connections also offer safety advantages, since a simple visual inspection is sufficient and there is no need to continuously check the condition of the screw threads. The quick bolt method also helps save time when assembling and disassembling a crane. The bolts can be easily dismantled even after the crane has been idle for a long time.

At the beginning of the 1960s, Wolffkran was one of the first tower crane manufacturers from Germany to introduce the bolt connection. After the development of the bolt connection, the modular tower system followed in the 1970s. Today you can often find this type of modular system from other crane manufacturers .
