A hose reel is a reel for quickly laying hoses - comparable to a cable drum for power cables. There are two types: the portable hose reel for C-hoses and the mobile hose reel.

C hose reel

The portable C-reel is generally equipped with five C-hoses .

C-reels are now being replaced by hose baskets in which two or three C-hoses are placed in bays or three C-hoses are rolled up and coupled together.

B hose reel

The mobile B-reel can be attached to a device at the rear of fire engines ; it is available in different versions. Older reels are unbraked and must be pulled by two fire fighters. Standardized reels are braked according to DIN 14826-2 and equipped with eight B-hoses (corresponds to a distance of 160 m). There are also braked one-man reels. On newer vehicles, carrier baskets with two tubes per basket are also loaded.

The mobile A-reel can be attached to a device at the rear of fire engines . These are mainly used in industrial plants that have a very high demand for water.
