History and creation

Restored straw press from 1960 in use

The museum was built in the former forge of Bernhard Wesseler from 1879. From 1936 to 1966 tractors of the Wesseler brand were manufactured here. Old-timer tractor friends from Altenberge and the surrounding area rented the old smithy in mid-2003 and founded a museum association, which opened the museum in 2004.

The purpose of the association is to promote the maintenance and preservation of cultural values and Westphalian customs. In particular, the maintenance and reconditioning of old agricultural machines, tractors, tractors and devices and their documentation.
