Tow decoys
In military seafaring, a noise-generating float that is towed by a ship in order to cover up its own noises or to generate a higher noise level astern is referred to as a drag decoy (sailor's German: Raddeldaddel - or Rabatz buje ) . The whole thing serves to defend against noise- seeking torpedoes or mines that react to screw or machine noises, for example the German torpedo Zaunkönig from the Second World War.

- ↑ The term "Raddeldaddel" probably refers to the sound of the noise generated, while "Rabatz" alludes to the volume.
