The Schlieperblock is a housing estate in Iserlohn . It was built in three construction phases from 1928 as part of the urban emergency housing construction for the unemployed. The architectural style is based on the modern age of the 1920s. It is assumed that the architecture and social economy of the New Building had an influence on the construction of the settlement .

The Schlieperbock was placed under protection as a monument by the city of Iserlohn on August 4, 2011 according to the DSchG NRW and entered in the list of architectural monuments under the serial number 230.

The architect of the housing estate, which was built across several streets, was Theodor Hennemann (born January 21, 1901 in Darmstadt ) , who worked in the Iserlohn building department . The settlement was built in three construction phases from 1928 to 1930, 1930 to 1932 and in 1936. From 1950 to 1952 the facility was expanded to include a shop with an apartment and an extension at the end of a row of houses.

Around 1941, the urban emergency apartments became the property of the Iserlohner Gemeinnützige Wohnungsgesellschaft (IGW). From the beginning, the Iserlohn settlement was a social hotspot . This did not change in the following years. Due to the persistently negative external impact of the Schlieperblock, the IGW pulled the settlement free and applied for its demolition in 2010. Some Iserlohn citizens campaigned for the preservation of the settlement as a monument. In mid-2011, the Schlieperblock was placed under monument protection, except for the supply building with apartment and the extension on the row of houses in Ankerstraße. In April 2016, the IGW received the building permit for the fundamental renovation of the monument ensemble and the demolition of the buildings that are not listed.

The name "Schlieperblock" is derived from the street name Schlieperstraße at the time. Today this street is called Ankerstrasse.
