Arès Castle
The castle in Arès , a French commune in the Gironde department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , was built in 1849 on the site of a previous building. The castle is on the Place de l'Église.
The two-storey building with a mansard roof was built for the industrialist and banker Léopold Javal (1804–1872). His daughter Sophie, married to Paul Wallerstein, inherited the castle. She had a southern extension built.
In 1948 the castle was sold to the Mutuelle générale de l'Éducation nationale .
