Buseck Castle
Buseck Castle , also Calmesweiler Castle , is a Baroque castle in the Eppelborn district of Bubach-Calmesweiler . It is a listed building.
history
When the Eppelborn-Calmesweiler estate was divided between Christoph Ludwig von Löwenstein and his sister Maria Margarethe, married to Conrad Philipp von Buseck in 1663 , Maria Margarethe received Calmesweiler, Bubach and Macherbach, while Christoph Ludwig got Eppelborn. With the death of Christoph Ludwig von Löwenstein in 1668, his sister also inherited Eppelborn. The castle was built in 1735 by an unknown architect and master builder as the mansion of Baron Ernst Johann Philipp Hartmann von Buseck and his wife Maria Freiin von Butlar. At the end of the 19th century, a tower was added to the north side of the building, which houses a small chapel on the third floor. The castle remained in the possession of the von Buseck family until 1866, when it was taken over by the von Thünefeld barons. In 1884 the now dilapidated farm buildings around the castle were demolished and a large park with a pond was designed. In 1937 Countess Gabriele von Andlau-Homburg, married Weber, took over the property. In 1996, the Eppelborn community finally acquired the palace building with the associated park from the Weber community of heirs. In 1997, part of the palace building became the private property of an architect. In 2003, Buseck Castle was awarded the Saarland Monument Preservation Prize. On November 1, 2019, a café opened on the ground floor of the palace with outdoor service.
architecture
The two-storey plastered building with corner blocks is completed by a mansard hipped roof. A projecting cornice surrounds the building. The window and door reveals are profiled, an accentuated keystone sits in the segment arches of the window. On the keystone above the main portal are the dates 1735, 1779 and 1884. Above that, on the first floor, there is a French balcony with a wrought iron railing. Next to the right side of the portal, the builder had the alliance coat of arms Buseck - 1686 - Fechenbach and Buseck - 1722 - Butlar attached. After the renovation, the alliance coat of arms of the couple Amandus von Buseck and Antonia von Buseck with the year 1781 is emblazoned on the left side of the portal. A small tower was added later on the north side.
