The Hoyos Castle in Gutenstein ( Lower Austria ) is a private family residence of Ernst Hoyos .

history

In 1670, the Lower Austrian Land Marshal Johann Balthasar II von Hoyos (1626–1681) began building the castle . Construction work ceased between 1681 and 1718, then Joseph Philipp Innozenz Graf Hoyos (1695–1762) expanded the castle into a three-wing building.

In 1817 Johann Ernst Graf Hoyos began to erect the four-sided form, which, however, was subject to architectural changes until the late 19th century. The phase of remarkable changes lasted until 1900, the last time Julius Deininger designed the facades and the mansard roof.

The palace garden was laid out as a French garden as early as the Baroque era, but was then redesigned into an English garden in 1817 .
