Klanin Castle

Klanin Castle ( Polish : Pałac w Kłaninie ) is a castle in Kłanino, Powiat Pucki (Puck District), Pomeranian Voivodeship .

history

The estate, first mentioned in 1285, was owned by the Kłanickis, Klińskis, Lobudzkis, Łątowskis, then the Janowskis and the Ustarbowskis. From 1838 the von Grass owners. The current castle was built in the 17th century.

Building

In the western part there are two banquet halls designed by André Lambert. The former dining room is now a restaurant. The preserved Danzig floorboard is remarkable, one of probably only five such floorboards that have survived, which were typical of Danzig patrician houses in the 17th and 18th centuries. Gdańsk hall cabinets and a spiral staircase, which Leopold von Grass had removed from a house in Gdańsk's Matzkauschegasse and built into the palace in 1886, have also been preserved, along with stylish Gdańsk furniture. These were destroyed during looting in the wake of World War II. The stairs came back to Danzig in the New Schöffenhaus (Now Dom Lawy) directly next to the Artus Court . Today's spiral staircase comes from the town house in Jopengasse (today: Piwan) 8, which was brought to safety here in 1944.

A small park has been created next to the castle with rare trees. The water tower that supplied the castle with water until the 1950s is remarkable.
