Schnarrsteg
The snarling bridge is a bridge in some stringed instruments that is set up in such a way that, when the string (s) is struck at a certain speed , it lifts from its base, i.e. the top , and then regularly hits the ceiling as a result of the vibrations of the bridge. This creates a rasping noise.
Schnarrstege can be found in different arrangements, for example on some hurdy-gurdy and Trumscheit . In the illustrated snare bridge of a French hurdy-gurdy, the string runs over the snarling component.
In the Hungarian hurdy-gurdy Tekerőlant , the snarling device includes a snarling wedge clamped over the string, with which the vibrations are transmitted to the top.
