Schoeps CMC

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schoeps CMC 5 and CMC 6 are a modular microphone system from the manufacturer Schoeps . Around 20 different microphone capsules with different properties can be screwed onto the microphone body.

The CMC system has been manufactured by Schopes without interruption since 1973. Thanks to its directional characteristic that is very stable in terms of frequency and its high resolution, the system is particularly popular for classical recordings, but also for pop music (grand piano, acoustic guitar, overhead). CMC systems are also used for stereo microphone methods such as ORTF (two MK4 capsules), X / Y (two MK4 capsules) and M / S (MK8 and MK4 or MK21 capsules). The system's microphone capsules cover a wide variety of applications, such as capsules for distance detection of sound, microphones with special directional characteristics, etc.

A transmission-free symmetrical amplifier is built into the CMC housing. The CMC 5 and CMS 6 systems differ primarily in the power supply and the built-in high-pass filters . The CMC 5 offers 48V phantom power . The CMC 6 system also has a 12V operating mode with internal voltage detection.

The CMC 5 system has a fixed depth attenuation to attenuate footfall sound; with -6dB / octave all tones below 30Hz are attenuated.
