Bias tape

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under bias tape is meant an about-degree angle cut at 45 to the selvage, two to four centimeters wide fabric ribbon . The edges are sharply pinched towards the middle. In individual cases, this can be done with a bias tape former. Due to the angled cut, it is stretchable in the longitudinal direction. In tailoring , it is used to border edges, as a push and for applications.

In order not to get any attachment points, however, it is usually cut out of a round fabric . The cut edges are strengthened against fraying by an adhesive.

It is traded in roll form.
