The inclined length (also operating length ) is a term that is used in cable car construction . In the cable car, which is simply understood as an inclined plane , the inclined length describes the route L that a cable car covers in order to overcome the height difference H and the horizontal length X. It can be determined using the Pythagorean theorem .
