A Schrämeisen , also called Schrämhaue, is a forged Mine Tool , the earlier in the mining industry for manual Schrämarbeit was used. The cutting iron was used together with the cutting spit .

Structure and application

The construction of the cutting iron is similar to a wedge pick , but the cutting iron is smaller and lighter. The blade of the chisel is bent at right angles to form a handle. The so-called helmet was tucked into the eye of the handle. The wooden handle that is inserted into the eye of the cutting tool was called the helmet. There were also cutting irons that were made entirely of steel so that a separate wooden handle was not required. Cutting irons are mainly used for narrow Schrampacken.
