Shredded material
When shredded or hog fuel is called wood (wood shredder) and other biomass by an impact comminution ( shredding ) was crushed instead of cutting tools (hoes, saws). The material is not split, but broken and smashed. Compared to wood chips, shredded material has a particularly rough surface due to the shredding and splintering of the raw material and the associated unfavorable bulk material properties.
