Mudguard on a rear wheel

The mudguard is a component of bicycles and other two-wheelers . It should help to keep mud , water and dirt away from the cyclist and also from the riders behind them. Mudguards for road bikes are usually attached directly above the tire (front and rear) and are made of metal, plastic or wood. Mudguards for mountain bikes and cross bikes are usually made of plastic. On cross bikes, they are usually mounted directly above the tire, on mountain bikes they are attached to the saddle and the down tube of the frame to prevent them from rattling.
