Schwabenpfeil (train)
The Schwabenpfeil was a train of the German Federal Railroad (DB) that ran between Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof and Dortmund Hauptbahnhof from 1952 .
The long-distance express train initially carried the train numbers F 23/24. At first it consisted of two (old) 2nd class cars and a dining car . The route changed a few times: In 1954 (the old) Ludwigshafen main station , in 1955 also the (new) Heidelberg main station , now a through station , was integrated. With the class reform in 1956, the train was now exclusively in the (new) 1st class. The upscale equipment of the train included train mail radio and a writing compartment . In 1958 the train received a through car that ran between Dortmund and Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof . The car swap took place in Mainz . The through coaches "only" ran between Mainz and Frankfurt on an express train .
This remained so until 1971, when the train number changed to F 118/119 for the summer schedule and the type of train changed for the winter schedule of the same year . The Schwabenpfeil now operated as InterCity , the through car to Frankfurt was omitted. As a result, the train numbers changed several times: IC 110/119 (1972), IC 114/115, IC 534/535 (1981), IC 518/519 (1989) and IC 618/619. With the opening of IC traffic to 2nd class travelers, the Schwabenpfeil received this offer. In addition, the route beyond Dortmund was extended to Hanover main station and Hamburg Altona .
