Swallow Corner Gate

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schwalbeneckor (also the south gate at the Schwalbeneck and old castle gate ) is a former city gate of the inner city wall (bishop's wall) in Augsburg . Together with the Frauentor and the east gate, it formed the fortifications ("Domburg") of the episcopal city, in the center of which was the Augsburg Cathedral . The Schwalbeneckor is one of the oldest city gates in Augsburg and was first mentioned in the 10th century. The demolition took place shortly after it was last mentioned in a document in 1351.
