Black screen

The black image referred to in the art of film , a black frame in which the filmstrip no light passes more and the screen remains dark. A sequence of several black images results in the black film . As a monochrome film sequence, it serves as a turning point or stylistic device. In the case of a fade to a black screen sequence or vice versa, one speaks of a fade in or out .
