Swiss animal protection

The Swiss Animal Protection (STS) is a non-profit animal welfare organization in Switzerland .

In 1861 the Swiss Central Association for the Protection of Animals was founded; today the organization is based in Basel . It is financed from donations and is involved in most areas of animal welfare, from pets to circus and zoo animals, farm animals and laboratory animals to wild animals (here e.g. hedgehog protection). The regional sections of the STS also operate animal shelters, among other things.

President is Heinz Lienhard.
