description

The exact construction time of Glen Eden is not known, so that only the 1850s can be given as the construction period. As an architect, Alexander Thomson was responsible for the planning. The asymmetrical, two-story villa has a roughly L-shaped floor plan. It shows stylistic features of neo-Romanesque and Mediterranean villa architecture and is considered a good example of Thomson's work in this area. It consists of rubble of sandstone and igneous rock and is plastered in the traditional style with Harl . The decorative ribbons are made of pink sandstone, which is also used for the corner stones on the building edges. The building ends with a slate-covered hip roof . The property is surrounded by a stone wall. The pillars on both sides of the access road are decorated with blind segment arches and indicated triangular gables .
