Swiss Association of Rural Women

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Swiss Rural Women Association (SLFV) is an interest group of Swiss women farmers based in Brugg. It was founded in 1932 on the initiative of Rosa Neuenschwander . The trigger for this was the merger of five cantonal rural women’s associations.

The purpose is to represent the economic and professional concerns of women farmers on a national and international level. In addition, the rural women’s association plays an important role in relation to the cultural self-assertion and identification of women farmers within the Swiss Farmers’s Association (SBV).

The association has around 68,000 members, of which a little less than half are farmers and a little more than half are rural women from all over Switzerland .
