The Swiss Association of Road and Transportation Experts (short VSS, from V erein S wiss S route professionals ) is an association of experts in the field of road planning , road construction and road operation . According to its own statements, the association sees itself as a platform for experts from companies and institutions and promotes the exchange of ideas and the further development of knowledge in the field of road construction.

Right from the start, the aim was to build functional and standardized transport infrastructures. One of the main tasks of the association is the processing of the Swiss set of standards , which mark the state of the art in road construction. New research results are published regularly and communicated to interested parties in training courses. The official organ of the association is the magazine "Strasse + Verkehr", which appears 10 times a year. Today the VSS is an association of over 2000 experts, companies and institutions from the private and public sectors who deal with the planning, project planning, construction, operation, maintenance, use and dismantling of traffic systems. As a platform, the association is open to all experts in individual and public transport. The VSS promotes sustainable and safe transport. The VSS is active throughout Switzerland as an independent, autonomous organization with the legal form of an association. It is based on the principle of the militia system and is democratically organized.

The VSS is based on around 110 coordination bodies, specialist and expert commissions and working groups. It puts these committees together according to technical, geographical and linguistic criteria.

The board leads the association and represents the interests of the VSS externally. The advisory board advises the board as a consultative body. The office coordinates and supports the association's work. The work in the VSS is based on the principle of voluntary work. Partial compensation for work in the association is made across the entire association according to uniform principles and within the framework of economic possibilities.
