Swiss Association for Technical Inspections

The Swiss Association for Technical Inspections (SVTI) is an association founded in 1869 with headquarters in Wallisellen ZH.

The SVTI Swiss Association for Technical Inspections is one of the most important Swiss institutions in the field of technical safety supervision. As a private-law, independent and not-for-profit association, the establishment of which dates back to 1869 and which has around 8,000 members, the SVTI performs official and private tasks on behalf of the federal government and the cantons.

The purpose of the SVTI lies in the prevention of accidents, malfunctions and damage and the elimination of dangers in the production and operation of technical systems of all kinds. The main activities of the SVTI include the monitoring of technical systems and devices such as pipelines and pipelines, installations in Power plants and pressurized containers, as well as market surveillance for elevators and pressure equipment.

The SVTI consists of four departments with different tasks and markets:

  • Boiler Inspectorate
  • Federal Pipeline Inspectorate (ERI)
  • Nuclear Inspectorate
  • Market surveillance:
    • Federal Inspectorate for Elevators (EIA)
    • Market control pressure equipment

SVTI is the parent company of the SVTI Group. This belongs to the company Swiss Safety Center AG, formerly Swiss Technical Services AG (Swiss TS), into which the companies IWT Institut für Werkstofftechnologie AG and Swissi AG merged on January 1, 2018.

The SVTI group is a member of the VdTÜV Association of TÜV eV
