Schwentine fleet
The Schwentine Fleet Association are ship owners in Kiel who form a floating community on the Stickenhörnmole in Kiel-Pries .
history
The floating community of Schwentineflotte are ten ship owners who have their primary residence in the Kiel-Stickenhörn sports harbor with a common postal address. This is unique in Germany.
The home of the Schwentine fleet has been the Geomar-Kai at the Seefischmarkt on the east bank of the Kiel Fjord in the Schwentine Estuary since the 1970s . At the beginning of the 1990s, the Helmholtz Center for Ocean Research Kiel claimed the berths for itself in order to create space for research vessels with more draft.
The Kiel property office and the association agreed on new places in the Friedrichsorter Plüschowhafen. At that time, the state, town and club members each contributed a third to the total costs of around 850,000 marks. The contract for the use of the berths, valid until 2018, was extended to 2034.
The association is now planning renovations. The costs of 275,000 euros are financed by loans and personal contributions over 20 years.
