A swimming board is a swimming aid that a swimmer holds on to with his hands or clamps between his thighs to benefit from their buoyancy . The swimming board usually has the rectangular, flat shape of a board and consists of wood, cork or nowadays mostly made of foam.

The swimming board is used for learning to swim and for training. If the swimmer grabs the swimming board with his hands, he can practice swimming with his legs in any swimming position. Arm swimming is supported by clamping the board between the legs.

A pull buoy is a modern form of a swim board between the thighs. In contrast to this and with emphasis on its purpose as a swimming aid for learning to swim legs, swimming boards that are especially suitable for this or only for it are colloquially referred to as kickboards .
