Scoping
Scoping is the definition of the scope of tasks or investigations in complex planning, management and manufacturing processes. The word is derived from the English scope , which means scope, delimitation, space, area of responsibility, scope, etc. can have.
Scoping process in land use planning
In planning processes for certain construction projects in the course of planning, investigations into the impact of the project on the environment in the EU are required by law. In order to be able to carry out these environmental reports or environmental assessments as effectively as possible, the area to be examined (spatial) and the depth of investigation (in terms of content) are specified beforehand in scoping , see also Scoping in the environmental assessment . Scoping has been required by law since 1997 according to the EU directive. The regulation is implemented in Germany in § 4 BauGB , § 15 UVPG and in the Federal Nature Conservation Act .
The "scoping date" is already important. Representatives of various authorities already meet there with the nature conservation associations recognized under the Federal Nature Conservation Act and invited experts.
Scoping in other areas
Scoping actually takes place in a large number of processes. It is used in a targeted manner, for example, in requirements management , accounting ( Sarbanes-Oxley Act ) or in product development .
