history

The first Dutch scout group was formed in Amsterdam in 1910 . Initially organized in several associations, the Dutch scouts joined forces in 1915 to form the De Nederlandse Padvinders association . In addition to the groups for boys, there were also groups for girls, which united in 1916 in the Het Nederlandsche Meisjesgilde Association (from 1933: Nederlandse Padvindstersgilde ). In 1938 and 1945, respectively, the Catholic groups split from the two associations; the Katholieke Verkenners for boys and the Nederlandse Gidsen for girls were created. During the Second World War, the scout groups in the Netherlands were banned by the German occupation authorities . In 1973 the four associations merged to form Scouting Nederland.
