Seán Haughey ( Irish Seán Ó hEochaidh , born November 8, 1961 in Dublin ) is an Irish politician of the Fianna Fáil .

Haughey was born in 1961 to Charles and Maureen Haughey, Seán Lemass ' eldest daughter . He attended St. Paul's College in Raheny and Trinity College in Dublin.

From 1985 to 2003 Haughey was a member of the Dublin City Council . During this time he held the post of Lord Mayor of Dublin from 1989 to 1990 . Haughey is also active in national politics, from 1987 to 1992 he was Senator in the Seanad Éireann . In 1992 he was elected to the Dáil Éireann for the constituency of Dublin North Central and thus moved from the Upper House to the Lower House of the Irish Parliament . There he has been Minister of State in the Ministry of Education since 2006 .

Haughey is married and has four children, three sons and a daughter.
