Seán MacSwiney

Seán MacSwiney ( Irish Seán Mac Suibhne ) was an Irish politician of the Sinn Féin .

He was elected to the 2nd Dáil Éireann for Sinn Féin in 1921 and was a member of it from August 1921 to June 1922. Like his sister Mary , who also sat in the Dáil, he was one of the opponents of the Anglo-Irish Treaty there . In the 1922 elections for the 3rd Dáil Éireann, he was unable to defend his mandate .

The Lord Mayor of Cork , Terence MacSwiney , who died on a hunger strike in 1920 , was his brother.
