The Sealy Corporation was one of the world's largest mattress manufacturers . Also bedsteads were produced. The US company was founded in 1881 by the cotton farmer Daniel Haynes from Sealy (Texas) . The company grew both nationally and internationally, primarily through the issue of production licenses. Today the headquarters are in Trinity (North Carolina) . Sealy shares were listed on the NYSE , with KKR as the main shareholder . In 2008 Sealy achieved sales of around USD 1.5 billion with around 4,800 employees.
Sealy was acquired by Tempur-Pedic International in 2013 .
