Seekers (religious movement)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Seekers (Engl. Seekers ) were called Christians in England in the 17th century who were dissatisfied with the common understanding of faith and began to search for new and deeper insights. The emergence of this movement is related to the somewhat greater acceptance of religious freedom during the Commonwealth .

The Quakers are considered a group that emerged from the Seekers and Dissenters . The Ranters are different, but unlike the Quakers, they later disbanded. The Seekers were lay preachers who traveled through the country individually or in loosely organized groups to preach and discuss.
