The very noble order of the white stag Sancti Huberti was donated on November 3rd, 1859 by Prince Friedrich Karl Nikolaus of Prussia as a "knightly hunting order".

assignment

The order was given the task of sweeping the "pitiful and unfortunate decline in which the noble hunted work has been in particular since 1848".

history

After the death of the founder, Kaiser Wilhelm II confirmed the order on April 8, 1889 and at the same time took over the protectorate. He set the number of members in four classes at a total of fifty.

The order also existed after the end of the monarchy in Germany until 1930. From this point on, the order was suspended. It was not revived until May 6, 1952 by the head of the Royal House of Hohenzollern, Louis Ferdinand of Prussia , received new statutes on June 14, 1955 and has been an association ever since.

Medals

The ribbon is green and on it is the motto of the order VIVE LE ROY SES CHASSEURS (Long live the king and his hunters).

The gold medals were made by J. Godet and Son, court jewelers in Berlin. Until 1918 the medal was not allowed to be worn either with the military uniform or next to the Prussian neck medal.
