Jörg Nimmergut

Jörg Nimmergut (* 1939 in Berlin ) is a German non-fiction author who is best known for his publications on medals and decorations and militaria . His main work is the five-volume edition of German Orders and Decorations up to 1945.

Live and act

Jörg Nimmergut initially studied pedagogy in Berlin and Romance and German in Munich . He later attended the Bavarian Academy for Advertising and Marketing. In 1964 he founded his own advertising agency in Munich, which he managed until 2006. Because of his first book Werben mit Sex (1966), an investigation was initiated against him for “disseminating lewd writings”. Then he wrote the multiple school of successful applications .

From the mid-1970s he turned to religious orders . In 1982 he opened an order museum in Neuffen and from 1987 to 1992 was director and curator of the German order museum in Lüdenscheid . Jörg Nimmergut was a publicly appointed and sworn expert for German medals and decorations from 1993 to 2007 and is a member of the scientific advisory board of the German Society for Religious Studies.

Jörg Nimmergut lives in Munich.

Awards

  • 1964: IAA Youth Award from the International Advertising Association at the World Advertising Congress in New York (as the first German)
  • 1988: Rubens Medal for Art and Culture (Belgium)
  • 1992: von Hessenthal Prize for Phaleristics from the Association of German Order Collectors
  • 2001: Badge for special merits of the Austrian Society for Religious Studies
