from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The International Advertising Association was founded on April 8, 1938 by Thomas Ashwell (editor of "Export Trade & Shipper" magazine) with twelve other advertising managers at the Harvard Club in New York. The aim was to exchange successful practices in international advertising .

Today the IAA has around 60 corporate members and 4,000 individual members in over 70 countries around the world as well as 60 accredited institutions and 30 organizations as members. The IAA is the only international organization that has members from all three pillars of the advertising and communication industry : advertising clients, agencies (creative agencies, PR agencies, event agencies, market research agencies, etc.) and the media.
