The cable car of Madrid ( Spanish Teleférico de Madrid ) is a cable car in the Spanish capital Madrid . It begins in the Paseo del Pintor Rosales and ends in the middle of the extensive city park Casa de Campo . Near the Príncipe Pío station , it crosses the S-Bahn heading northwest, San Antonio de la Florida and the Rio Manzanares and ends at Garabitas Hill.

The Teleférico de Rosale, SA was founded on September 6, 1967th Previously, in July of the same year, the city council had granted the company a 35-year concession for a distance of 1500 meters. The cable car was built by the Swiss company Von Roll and opened on June 20, 1969.

The valley station is 627 meters above sea level and the mountain station at 651 meters. 1,200 people per hour can be transported at a speed of 3.5 meters per second (12.6 km / h). The journey time is eleven minutes. Since it opened, eight million passengers have used the train for five million journeys. It is used by around 180,000 people annually and runs almost all year long.
