The Punkevní jeskyně - Macocha cable car is a cable car that connects the edge of the Macocha sinkhole ( Mazocha or Stepmother's Gorge ) in the Czech Republic with the low-lying access to the Punkevní jeskyně ( Punkwahaves ).

Neither the narrow little road to the punk caves in the deeply cut valley nor the parking lot at the hotel Skalní Mlýn ( rock mill ) could cope with the increasing tourist traffic after the fall of the Wall. From the simpler road to the Chata Macocha inn , it was easy to get to the top of the sinkhole, but not to the entrance to the caves. It was therefore decided in 1992 to create a large parking lot on this upper road and to build a small cable car down into the valley from there. For this, the road in the valley could be closed to traffic from the hotel Skalní Mlýn. Although the project met with considerable resistance, the cable car built by Doppelmayr was able to start operating in 1995.

The valley station is at 362 mnm, the mountain station at 493 mnm. The cable car with the two cabins supplied by CWA for 15 people each overcomes the height difference of 131 m over a sloping length of 249 m (horizontal length: 207 m) and can transport 353 people per hour.

From a technical point of view, it is an extremely rare single-cable aerial tramway with fixed-grip cabins (MGFJ - monocable gondola fixed grip jigback). The cabins do not hang, as usual, with a running gear on a carrying cable and are pulled back and forth by a pulling cable, but are permanently attached to the hoisting cable with a fixed clamp, which does not revolve continuously like a gondola, but is pulled back and forth is that the two cabs move up and down between the stations. The mountain station consists of little more than a large pulley for the hoist rope and simple constructions for getting in and out. There is a double support immediately behind the mountain station. The valley station, which is partially built into the mountain, is hardly larger than the two gondolas. It contains the electric drive (45 kW) and the hydraulic rope tensioning system. The hauling rope has a diameter of 41 mm. The maximum transport speed is 2.5 m / s (9 km / h).
