The Svetlogorsk Cable Car is a cable car in the Russian city ​​of Svetlogorsk in Kaliningrad Oblast . It connects the train station of the 10,000-inhabitant city with the beach of the seaside resort.

history

The first cable car in Rauschen was built in 1912 by the East German Railway Company . The route of this cable car was longer and a height difference of 43 meters was overcome. In 1917 the cable car was taken over by the municipality of Rauschen

In 1983 a new, shorter cable car was built in Svetlogorsk, which overcomes a height difference of almost 30 meters. At the beginning of the 2010s, the cable car was out of service for a few years due to its poor condition, but after a general overhaul it could be resumed.

use

There are 19 cabins, each of which can be used by a maximum of two adults. On busy summer days, up to 5000 people are transported by cable car.
