Side exit device

Side exit device of the 101 series

A side departure device enables the driver of a rail vehicle to drive off after a stop at a train station and at the same time to see from the side window of the vehicle. The latter is necessary for certain handling processes in order to ensure that there is no danger when the train leaves (e.g. for a person trapped in the door). The side exit device is therefore located directly next to the two side windows; in some vehicles, however, not on the window side where the driver's desk is. Some vehicles, such as the ICE 3 , no longer have such a facility.

With the Seitenabfahreinrichtung it is possible by a rotary switch traction intrude (position on ) to keep the tension constant (position drive ) and the tensile force to reduce (Position From ). In addition, the lever can be moved to the SB position in the event of danger , which initiates rapid braking . In addition, the side stop device also contains the operating elements for punctual train control and often a button for the macro microphone and the sand spreader . In order to be able to operate the safety drive switch (Sifa) when driving down with the side departure device , a Sifa hand switch is usually attached under the window.
