A self-help center is a facility that offers rooms and psychosocial counseling for self-help groups . In the self-help center, volunteers, and in larger institutions also employed or part-time specialists, act as contact points for people looking for suitable self-help offers.

The self-help groups, on the other hand, usually work independently on the premises of the center or outside of it. The self-help centers receive financial support from the health insurance companies on the basis of the social security code.
