The seminar for pastoral training in Wuppertal is an evangelical theological training center for theologians in the second training phase (see vicariate ) in Wuppertal .

Emergence

The seminar for pastoral training has existed since 2004. It emerged from the former Reformed Preachers ' Seminar in Elberfeld and the Rhenish Preachers' Seminar in Bad Kreuznach. Today it continues the work of those two previous seminaries under one roof. The traditions, teaching content and special features of both seminars are incorporated into the new institution, which was created with the merger on January 1, 2004.

Traditionally, the former Elberfeld Reformed Preachers' Seminar was the training center for all Reformed regional churches in Germany. Therefore, not only Rhenish vicars were trained, but also those from the Lippe, Reformed and Bremen regional churches . Since January 1, 2009, the Evangelical Church of Westphalia has also moved the training of its vicars to Wuppertal after the seminary in Villigst was closed. The seminar for pastoral training in Wuppertal has therefore been a training center for a total of five Protestant regional churches since 2009.

The new seminar for pastoral education in Wuppertal is supported by a board of trustees that is supported by four legal entities: the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland , the Evangelical Church of Westphalia, the Lippe Regional Church and the Evangelical Reformed Church . The latter also takes care of the interests of the Bremen Evangelical Church , which also has its vicars trained in Wuppertal.

The seminar is part of the newly created Theological Center Wuppertal (ThZW), which arose around the Church University of Wuppertal .
