Semtalk is a software for business process modeling that is based on Microsoft Visio and supports various modeling methods . It was first published in 2001 by the start-up SC4 as a graphic RDF schema editor and has since been further developed by Semtation GmbH based in Potsdam .

Functions

In the area of business process modeling and optimization, the modeling methods eEPK , KSA , BPMN , BPMN 2.0 , ProMet and C-ENS are supported. In the field of semantic search, the modeling of ontologies is supported in different formats.

With the use of Microsoft SharePoint as a repository, portal and document management system, its functionalities are available in the context of modeling. As an alternative to Microsoft SharePoint, other systems can also be used.

In 2010, García-Castro and Gómez-Pérez examined the interoperability of different Semantic Web technologies using OWL . They certified Semtalk's rather poorer interoperability. Technologies with OWL-like models performed better.

Semtation GmbH is a partner of the QURATOR project for digital curation supported by the BMBF .
